Three years ago, Rich Peverley nearly lost his life during an NHL game. It was one of the scariest and most bizarre events. If you haven’t seen the footage, it’s a lot to handle.
Luckily, the worst was averted and Peverley survived his cardiac arrest. His road back was difficult for both him and his family. But, the Peverley’s, like so many others, have transformed significant adversity into a gift for others.
Although Rich was no longer capable of playing hockey at a high level, he’s created a charity that works to raise funds to purchase automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and to educate and train people of all ages to use those devices. An AED played a key role in saving Peverley’s life.
